White Flag Conditions: Emergency Shelter Info

    Emergency Shelters & White Flag Conditions
When NOAA reports the temperature or wind chill factor will fall below 32 degrees the White Flag emergency inclement weather will be initiated at the places of refuge listed below. A white flag will be posted outside the front entrance. Please call for availability.
     
    Salvation Army
    245 Alexander Street
    Families, Males and Females
    POC: Manny Specht (910) 922-1681
    • Check-in is from 6 - 7:30 p.m.
    • Only shelter residents will eat breakfast from 7 - 7:30 a.m.
    • Leave for 15-30 minutes to allow for clean-up and then may re-enter and watch TV until lunch.
    • Open for Love Lunch for everyone from 12 - 12:30 p.m.
    • Leave for 15-30 minutes to allow for clean-up and then may re-enter and watch TV until dinner.
    • Dinner is served to everyone from 5 - 5:30 p.m.
    • Maximum of 100 in the dining hall
    • Total of 65 beds available, 32 male, 12 female, two family rooms that sleep five. Overflow room has additional 10 beds
    • Maximum of 30 beds are allowed in the gym (males and females)
    • After female beds fill up they will be transported to Hope Center
    • No fees, no sex offenders allowed, criminal background check required every two weeks
    • All beds will be utilized. Will attempt to house 10 additional in the dorms prior to opening up the gym.
    • Will remain open throughout the day ONLY if the City is shut down

    • Check-in is from 6 - 7:30 p.m.
    • Will take 10 additional women during white flag only (total 31)
    • No transportation will be provided
    • Serves dinner
    • No fees, no criminal check
    • All shelter residents must leave by 7 a.m.
    • Will have 3 staff members
     
    True Vine Ministries

    Males and females

    • Check-in is from 6 - 7:30 p.m.
    • All shelter residents must leave by 7 a.m.
    • Will NOT be providing transportation. Under NO Circumstances will transportation be provided from downtown.
    • Dinner & showers are provided
    • Maximum of 32 persons allowed overnight
    • No fees, no criminal check, sex offenders allowed
    • Will have 3 staff members
    • Open throughout the day ONLY if the City is shut down
     
    Operation InAsMuch
    531 Hillsboro Street
    POC: Sue Byrd (910) 433-2161
    • Open for breakfast 7 to 9 a.m.
    • Can stay and watch movies or attend classes from 9 - 11:30 a.m.
    • Will have 2 staff members
    • Maximum of 104 allowed in the dining area
    • If the City/County is closed OIAM will remain open all day with potential of an all night movie marathon
